These days even the singaporeans are complaining about the damn hot weather... Actually I never covered up my dislike of this tiny Singapore, one of the essential reasons is the endless hot days. It has never rained since my return from US and, according to Straittimes, Singapore has been scorching ever since, with amost daily highs of 34 deg C.
People in hot weather tend to be more stupid and lazier, that's why here, in this tiny and hopeless country, singaporeans are so ### and i am so lazy. I am trying to throw off this feeling of inertia, but it's... not easy. I am still enjoying that vacation mood all the way from last sem, with a lot of midterms and projects ahead. Hope i can start to do sth.... usually it's impossible to make stupid ppl smart, but ppl definitely can recover form laziness.
I brought my laptop back form the TOSHIBA service center last week with a bit disappointment. There was nothing surprising, they just simply held their ground that it's a software problem and what they can do is to recover everything with simplified chinese XP home edition... by which i may not be able to join the NUS domain and set up IIS for ASP coding... damn it!!
My laptop may encounter some serious 'bluescreen crash' under Windows XP pro, i tried to figure out this problem in US, and now in singapore... but maybe it's time to give up. ................
Long time no blogging, and my laptop is in TOSHIBA customer service center... anyway I hate making excuse for being lazy.
Everybody loves Lunar New Year, but in Singapore, sometimes you may feel weird to enjoy this 'Spring' festival by wearing t-shirt, it should be super cold in Soochow right now. All the shops and canteens in Singapore will be closed during this holliday, as a consequence, basically we have to store packs of instant noodles to survive. This year, moreover, i bought one case of Madarin Oranges, not bad. ................
Have been back to Singapore for one week already. Finally set up a new mobile phone plan, and bought one new Cell Phone as well.
I traded in my previous Nokia 8210 with 50 dollars, and the new phone got colorful graphics, integrated camera... a lot of high-tech stuff. However, i still miss my 8210 with simple function and user friendly UI. Sometimes people prefer simple life, though they have no choice to struggle for so-called 'colorful future'... ................
There is an Aztec Empire Exhibition in Solomon Guggenheim Museum. Compared to the MET and MOMA, Guggenheim is a bit boring. Actually I always have problems to understand western modern arts. ................
We almost visited everywhere in NY except the north part. This day is for Northern NY. The size of Columbia University is even smaller than my high school in china, but it is understandable by considering the land-value in New York. ................
The financial District is located in the south of Manhattan. The World Trade Center was no longer there, what u can see is just a huge rusty cross standing in the site of WTC.
Eventually Ryan and I were fed up with shopping with gals all the time, the group finally was separated and we decided to go to some museums instead of going shopping. United Nations Headquarter. Usually people tend to get excited when they see something which has been shown in TV news. UN Security Council, General Chamber, the UN building surrounded with national flags, u can see everything by joining a UN tour trip which cost 7 bucks. ................
It is a cold day and we moved to our third hostel in New York, Manhattan Inn. I prefer winter than summer, maybe that's because I stayed too long in hot hot Singapore. Your body might be uncomfortable with the feeling of freezing, but it is better to be clear-headed. I was always drowsy in hot and humid Singapore. In some sense, Time Square is a museum for different kinds of advertisements, but as far as gal's concern, that's simply another shopping place.
None of us is New Yorker, and basically we knew nothing about NY before the trip, so our trip schedule was based on one simple New York City Guide. This kind of books usually help travelers a lot, however, it cannot be always accurate. According to that book, NY flea market is a world famous, big and exciting used stuff trade center, but this statement certainly aggrandized its status. Frankly speaking, that flea market is just a place with a few booths getting together and, and with 1 buck entrance fee.
The first place we visited is Central Park, accurately speaking, just one tiny corner of central park. Actually I dunno how big it is, even though I have been there more than 4 times during the whole week in NY. For more information: http://www.centralparknyc.org/virtualpark.

I finished my last final at 6pm 16th Dec after a four-hour quick review of my financial accounting which has been completely ignored for the whole quarter. Instead of going back to enjoy the post-examination joy, I went to the lab to rush my final EE472 project. Once everything has been done, it was 1am, 17th Dec. I went back to my dorm, packed everything into my luggage, called my parents, said goodbye to my friends, took the last piece of bread in the refrigerator, everything was going just fine, but I made a wrong decision, taking a nap. I was waked up by the call from my trip mates, and I realized I was late… I am supposed to meet my friends at 7:40am, but I was still in the bed… The trip to New York started in my haste.
Luckily I caught up the flight in time. I was excited, and so sleepy. That's why I went on to sleep in the plane and once I opened my eyes, I was in New York City! ................

I screwed up today's exam... and got one more tmr... sigh
The final week is for the finals. i got 4 exams on 4 days, one final everyday. i dun feel so stressful as i did in NUS. Basically 3 reasons: 1, i am an exchange student here, and i am here for fun. 2, the most importantly, my results here will not affect my final CAP. 3, the American students dun care about finals, why shall i?
The exams rules here is not so strict as that in singapore neither, the professor can change whatever he want and we take the exams in the regular room without any supervision. most of student turned in the paper once they have finished, they just simply dun care about it. ................

The quarter is approaching its ending... and sadly people start to leave, include me..:) But for me, at least i still got a exciting winter break trip to go. However, we have to say goodbye to Paries, the first one leave for his home...
Paries is from Taiwan, we knew each other in the trip to Bainbridge Island... he is a such nice guy that he gave me a lot of usefull information about the trip to NY, he is really funny and there is a big smile on his face for ever
. So.... Goodbye and take care! Paries! ................
Basically i am a slacker in US... sleeping, sleeping and sleeping. Thanksgiving is designed for such kind of person as me. I slept until 1pm on the turkey day, and finally realised that i would be late for the thanksgiving party... that became ture, when i got my host family's place, some guests have finished their delicious turkey already. definitely the pic on the left was taken by someone else.
I am not an alcoholist, actually I even dun like drink grape wine... but it is always a good idea to taste something new and join a winery trip with those europeans who are really crazy about drinking.
We visited 3 wineries and breweries in Woodinville, namely they are Chateau St. Michelle, Columbia Winery and Redhook Brewery. The first 2 produce grape wine, the last one is famous for BEER.... yeah, that's what i am looking for. ................
$55 for a single entrance canadian visa, $85 for the transportantion fee... i am still wondering whether it was worth visiting vancouver by spending so much money.
Vancouver actually is pretty near to Seattle, 3 hours drive only. Basically the city of vancouver is bigger, more crowded and messier than that of seattle... ................
Bainbridge Island, which is around the city of Seattle, is a famous spot for holiday outing. It took around 40 minutes from seattle to the island by Washington State Ferries.
The trip was host by a Taiwanese Student Organization, which is kinda pro-Taiwan Independence... whats why i had to pretend to be a overseas chinese without any political viewpoints. ................
The San Diego Zoo, frankly speaking, it is not as nice as I expected. It is world famous because of the giant pandas in the zoo… but as a Chinese, that's not really a big deal… anyway u can go there if you got time… better pick up a cloudy day, animals hate hot weather and they won't show up in sunny days, maybe that's why I felt the zoo was so boring…. ................
San Diego, a great city with plenty sunny days and wonderful beaches everywhere, is totally different from the rainy and quiet Seattle. I went there via Oakland by southwest airline and, spent around 300 bucks for the airfare, but fortunately that’s the total cost for my San Diego trip. My cousin was there and a free sunshine trip was waiting for me.
It is kind of too hot in San Diego, like suzhou in summer, the weather made people a bit upset. But frankly speaking, nothing can stop people getting out and enjoying the beach life. I visited the following places in San Diego,
Ok, let me continue my stories in US. I joined the homestay program in UW, basically this program is designed for international students and it will provide the students with a nice place to stay for a few days. Hosts are volunteers from the local community. Jill and Dick, my host family, they are really very nice people. Jill is a software engineer and her husband Dick, is a chef. They successfully helped me to get over the jet lag, and get my thoughts together. There are another two important family members, Kelly and Frankie, two cute but huge dogs… Life is relaxing in their house; I just watched Olympic games everyday and enjoyed the free food with them, which made me cherish the illusion that American food was nice, though finally I know that’s not really true.
NBA… Seattle Supersonics versus Toronto Raptors in Seattle Center… I was there yesterday. It was really cool and ticket is surprisingly cheap, 10 bucks. Compared to the ticket price for baseball and football in Seattle, it is really not a big deal. Our seats were not located at the perfect position, but anyway, we were there for experiencing it, instead of just watching a basketball game. The organizers are pretty good at cheering fans up… the music, the games, the shouting kept people exciting for almost 2 hours. Finally Sonics won the game by the final shooting. The only thing disappointed me is that I have been informed the Rockets won’t come to Seattle until March…I will be in Singapore at that time.
Today is for voting. Americans enjoy it, they believe that they can make some kinda change to their country by voting... and politics is always a hot topic in US.
CNN said Gallup polls over the weekend indicated the race was evenly split between the two candidates. But it seems that Washington residents prefer Kerry... the Kerry supports are busy themselves with distributing flyers... shouting around the campus with "Kerry...Kerry". On my way back to dorm, i got a nice Banner, and accidently i became a 'Kerry Supporter'... unfortunately i can do nothing for him
http://www.dingjia3.com/diary/showlog.asp?log_id=468+32004-11-2 13:54:15 Suzhou->Shanghai->Singapore->Taipei->Seattle.. finally i arrived at Seattle by a long route on 26th Aug, 2004.
i was not put in a happy mood by this exciting trip, actually things did not go well. I just had a surgery, no big problem, but it hurts... I spotted that my new laptop got problems in the night before the day of my leaving, i started to think about how to figure it out in US... The flight from Singapore to Taipei had been canceled because of the typhoon. ................
My dad and me joined a packet trip to Yun Nan, a Southwest province in China. The inhabitants include many races besides Chinese, such as Shans, Lolos and Maotsze. It's a nice place, i like the climate there.
It's not a perfect trip cos there was no ppl in my age in the group... and sometimes it's really difficult to communicate with old ppl... the travel agency made a lot of money by selling jade, tea and Tibetian remedies... anyway, it's a trip with my dad... i really enjoyed it. ................

I got one more week to 'enjoy' my internship... and i was ready to go back home long long ago
. But right in the end of my internship i am getting super busy.... Eusoff Orientation webpage (the image above), ECE club flyer design, and my final project in Adaptec... hopefulli i will be able to settle down everything before my departure. Can you spot any special characteristics of this note? hoho... the logo is transparent!
Moreover, its a plastic notes... Bruneian Dollar. I got it when i bought drinks with a $50 note this afternoon, I think I should keep it for a while untill it's no more rare. ................
The one and only event of this weekend.. room removing. From C106 to B102... the new academic year and my third year in Eusoff hall is coming. I have been in C106 for one and half year, a nice place with a big square of lawn outside, but i was frequently disturbed by intruders like huge dog, mini cat, flying beetles etc.

One of my new year resolutions is to creat a vivid and interactive personal webpage with a public writing place. I am willing to be close to this lovely blog page and let bits of my personal information creep in.
This blog is base on ASP. The original code, which is in Chinese, was programmed by Dlog and Poorfish. Big thanks to you guys!
What i did is to edit some part of the code and make it work well in english. ................
